Minimum Wage Simulator
A downloadable Shift for Windows
An abstract game poem based on my experiences in my minimum wage job in retail. Start your day at the self-checkouts and continue on with your miserable day! The game is made using the DOOM Engine with the tool Ultimate DOOM Builder. The game is one big, long level, built to try and showcase the monotony, repetition and boringness that you experience in these kinds of jobs. I also include dialogue based off of my own real experiences at my job (e.g. conversations with the customers the protagonist has). I'd say the game may take about 5-10 minutes to complete.
Guides for starting the game and controls etc (also in a readme):
To run the game please launch the launch.bat file included, this should launch the game.
This game was designed to be used with DOOM2.WAD, however due to copyright issues I cannot include it, but the included Freedoom.wad works fine, but if you want you can swap this for your own DOOM2.WAD
Game consists of one long level. Once completed, the game will continue back to original DOOM 2 levels or Freedoom levels(depending on the wad you use), these are NOT meant to be part of my own game experience.
CONTROLS:
wasd to move
scroll wheel and numbers to swap weapons
space to jump
e to interact and respawn
hold shift to slow down, autorun is on
DOOM Engine does not have a checkpoint system as far as I'm aware. However it does include save and load options in the menu if you find the game too hard you can save as often as you'd like :)
